We stumbled across MJs as it was next to coffee Dominion ( which is highly rated on this app, Unfortunately, they didn't do brekkie). To our great surprise the coffee was awesome and the food was equally great. The other reviews don't really do it justice, however, it wasn't busy. I am from Melbourne and a bit of a coffee snob, BTW. Oh, and my son reckons the chai latte was amazing!
coffe is good but not sure it was worth the 15 minute wait (because the dockets got screwed up, wasn't busy). The little angry chick (manager) was happily dressing down the staff in full view of everyone (unprofessional) yet didn't apologise to the customer when she delivered the late coffee. Stressing out your staff by screaming at them is hardly going to improve performance.
It's service Jim, but not as we know it. Asked for a large Cap ($5.80). Thought it might be too weak. Counter lady suggested a medium cap with extra shot. Go with that. Get coffee. Ask for refund, as medium is $5.30 Counter chick looks at me funny. Gets 40 cents from register. I prompt her for 50c. She drops it on counter and shouts 'Whooaa!' Cop an attiutude. I says, 'Is there a problem'. She walks away to back room. Score: service was shite. If I treated my customers that way, I'd be embarrassed. Coffee was OK, but 16% dearer than GJ. Give this muscle beach crew a wide berth. 5.7 is generous.
Without sounding like a complete city slicker fool, I was expecting a whole lot worse from any coffee in Townsville. My brew was fairly decent, smooth & silky like a flat white should be. Slight ashy after taste suggesting beans could have been sitting around on the shelf for sometime.
