Tried this for the first time today. Found the prices for food a bit all over the place. Didnt like the coffee although it was well made. Too acidic and left a bad aftertaste. Bit confused since the coffee boasts award winning single origin from Vanuatu, but when asked i was told it was a blend and no idea where from. I'm assuming coffee from Vanuatu has won an award at some stage, but roasted from this company?
I first tried this coffee back in January and I loved it straight away. The cafe has great service, and situated right on Collaroy Beach. It's a strong blend, made to a satisfying temperature, and the coffee itself is made well. It's also right next to the L90 bus stop, so perfect for a quick pick-me-up before you venture to the city.
Geez it was hard to find this place!!! Firstly all the signage is MYCO, and if you walk past thats what you will see, as also if you are driving. I actually opened the door to ask the street number!!!! To add to that this entry is NOT in the Collaroy vicinity so right now, the iPhone app won't show you this place. It is however in the building we would know as The Beach Club, right on Pittwater Road. My espresso was served in a glass sans any water. The crema was frothy to a degree I have never seen. I wonder if thats what is meant by beans that are too fresh? The flavour was good, not however as good as regularly delivered in the home of Vanuatu Gold. The latte ok.
So here we have a new place right on the beach at Collaroy, first impressions when I walk in is that these guys are pretty serious with 2 LaMarzocco machines 2 & a 3 group...GB5's. 4 grinders 2 Mazzer Robur E's running house blends & another running a single origin also a mini Mazzer electronic running decaf. House coffee beans is from Vanuatu, Tanna Island hence the name of the the place named after the Volcano that naturally fertilisers the soil Mount Yasur. Single origins are from all over the world that change on a weekly basis. These guys running naked VST's on all groups, I had a flat white and the acidity, flavour, body & balance was like I symphony orchestra in harmony in my mouth. Great job! The best part these guys are open from 5am-10pm 7days how good is that! Congratulations Mount Yasur Coffee Co looking forward to many more great coffees!
