A place I frequent quite often. The service is consistent and the staff pleasant. The place gets quite hot in summer but the powerpoints and free wifi keep the students and laptop users coming. They have a great selection of cakes, muffins and bagels, and their coffee is well made. They have the $10 minimum for eftpos, but I’ll forgive them as this is their only fault.
This is a lovely little place, cute balcony for people-watching and homely ambience inside. Reminds me of a guesthouse I stayed at in Tokyo. They've recently switched from using Salvador to Coffee Hernandez, but the quality has remained consistent. Very fine hand pour filter coffee - the last I had was an Ethiopian single with classic blueberry and cherry up front, very silky in the mouth with dark chocolate and stewed fruit. Enticing vegetal and herbal characteristics once it began cooling. And the best bit - this place serves coffee till 7pm!
This is a hidden gem in a street of very good options. If you want an escape from the hipster joints and pretentious cafes where hot young things sit on crates, head up the stairs to this warm oasis. I have not had a bad coffee yet and I've enjoyed at least 8 large flat whites. Friends have too. I have a passion for stronger blends with creamy/caramel flavours and this hits the spot. Temperature is ideal and matches the cosy interior. There's an assortment of cakes and slices with a modest breakky and lunch menu.
