Very popular with locals of all walks of life... ppl come with lap tops and settle in. Friendly service and the barista graciously accepted eftpos for just coffee while next door would not. Plenty of food options and cakes although on a blustery July morning I am not sure why some cafes keep all windows... drafty.
They forgot my order completely and didn't notice me sitting for 40 minutes waiting for it. I had to go up to the counter to ask where my food was, before they realised it was forgotten. I also sat at a table with a view into the kitchen and saw the chef tossing salad with his hands while only wearing a glove on one of them! Badde Manors is an old classic but clearly there are some problems with staff at the moment.
Reasonable coffee with great food and deserts. Great atmosphere in the place with little booths and fixed seating. Nice heated outdoor seating along the footpath to watch the world go by. Bonus being its one of the few places in the area open late. Approx 11pm week days and nearly 1am on weekends.
What to say? I've had so many variable experiences here: the coffee is generally adequate, occasionally bordering on good; the food has been both awful (inedible and/or cold), and delicious; the service is changeable, but rarely truly awful; its atmosphere is probably the best thing it has going for it, with a near constant thrum of energy and conversation.
