Blue Bottle has become an absolute classic in SF, and the Ferry Building location makes it so easy for tourists, event-goers, and even locals to stop in and drink high-quality local coffees. It's certainly a frenzy to get to, as is everything in the city, so don't expect a relaxing visit - do expect a smooth, palatable roast to keep you company during your city adventure.
A very good coffee made by friendly, knowledgeable baristas. They were aware of flat whites but said theirs' was the same as a cappuchino which didn't impress me. I settled for a latte and it was good, the only negatives being the lack of seating and take away containers.
Traveling over from Australia it was immediately noticeable that the US pallet seemed to be for burnt, over roasted and horrible coffee. Blue bottle was definitely the stand out of the beautiful San Francisco coffee scene. Perfectly pulled, poured and presented coffee. The small shop seemed to pump from open to close but well worth the time waiting!
The first proper coffee I found in the US. On par with the better cafés back home. So very happy. The atmosphere was great. There was a line of people waiting but with two baristas it moved pretty quickly. The service was quick and cheerful. Coffee didn't take long despite the queue.
