Change in ownership, there is no passion in there anymore unfortunately and service is sub par especially compared to how good it used to be. Walked in without knowing that it changed and felt it straight away and said it to my friend and then asked as we left, suspicions confirmed!

Popped in to have a pour over just before closing. They were very accommodating, letting us sit down. Had a chat with one of the guys there who was really into coffee. Would happily go back again.

Whenever I have time on a weekend, I would pop into A&S and have a Long Black coffee (my usual weekend fix), which I find to be well balanced i.e. strong, sweet and bright. A solid 9 for their coffee.

The sign out the front promoting this as the home of Australias Best Barista challenged me to come in and see for myself. My coffee drinking persona takes over at these moments and responds with a childish "pfft we'll see about that!" closely followed by my rational self saying "how would you know if they are good or not anyway?". Spread across the walls are various words and phrases which I can not understand nor pronounce so I go ahead and order the usual take away flat white, no sugar. When rating coffee I do not judge on the origin, hardware used or the impact the barista using spray on deodorant instead of roll on will have on the beverages texture, I simply rate on how good it tastes. This coffees tastes great and so I would recommend you get there and give it a crack.

forward-thinking like a good dystopian novel, addison & steele pride themselves on being purveyors of only the finest ostentation. it's the first cafe i've encountered with an ego of its own. but it is also i cafe i hate to love; the espresso is genuinely good in its process, overture and quality. a&s is renowned for their accessibility to alternative brewing methods, flanking the space with syphons, v60 beakers and instruments. the espresso shots are larger than standard, providing both a juicier body and a subtler acidity. putting their flamboyance aside, a&s addresses its mission of producing dignified espresso on a level of detail and competence rarely breached in perth.
