It is hard to fault Temperance Society. I stopped by to the bustling cafe for brunch on an otherwise quiet ANZAC Day. The staff were very attentive and found us a table quickly, even though the cafe was almost full. I had the house blend for my long black which was perfect - dark and earthy. I then tried the Guatemalan single origin in a short black. This came out in a full sized cup, which was a bit unusual (maybe they ran out of small cups?), and some sparkling water on the side. Again, very nice - it’s great to see cafes offering a single origin that is not made using a washed process. The food was also good, though perhaps lacking a variance in texture - crunchy/smooth.
Met some friends here for breakfast this morning. Staff kindly moved us inside when it became a little cold outside. I really appreciate this sort of treatment. Coffee was flawless- Maker Fine Kenyan as a filter brew was like toffee apple, and my friend said his flat white was wonderfully balanced.
Temperance Society (hence TS) sits in a small cluster of shops in the middle of a residential area (something that's happening a bit in the area, hooray!) It has a nice modern decor and the staff are friendly. I've only ever gotten coffee to go, but their takeaways have been good. Flat whites were creamy and good, and they have a batch filter brew on the go too.
