Food was great, coffee lovely and staff were polite & efficient. I had the purgatory eggs, with a side of bacon (which was ample). The combination of eggs, tomato sauce with roasted capsicum, feta, coriander and rocket, with a sprinkle of chilli flakes made every mouthful SO tasty! My fiancé had the poached eggs with a side of bacon and chilli jam. The chilli jam had a great balance between sweet and spicy with subtle bitter after note. Would highly recommend this quirky little cafe!
Had a coffee at this lovely café. I chose a double shot latte, milk looked good, maybe slightly too thick (not silky enough) if I have to say anything, nice art as well. The flavour of the coffee was a bit too sweet, not sure what happened there. Almost as if they used sweetened milk, but maybe it was the flavour of the coffee shot. Boyfriend had a cappuccino, which was slightly too big for his liking, and therefore too weak. All and all, coffees were fine, service was good, it's a nice little café, but not convincing enough to become a regular.
The coffee was good but not great. It was a little thin for my liking. Food was good. The menu is missing most mainstream favourites like eggs benedict. Was a little miffed that they only did boiled eggs. I would go back just for the atmosphere. You could walk past Slowpoke without noticing it is there. It is nicely hidden away despite being on busy Brunswick St. Inside is nice and warm and quiet. It has been beautifully renovated. I love the business cards stamped on recycled cardboard. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Wasn't impressed when they put a non-gluten free dish in front of my gluten free compatriot but it happens.
