To most people in Melbourne this place feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. But when you serve good coffee and food you know people are going to come from a long way to pack it out (and its packed out on weekends, and fairly busy during the week too). I like their coffee, but I always drink it too fast and want another immediately (good and bad, but maybe the extraction is too weak?) The food is pretty nice, although I find it on the pricey side, but to their credit they do a few interesting things here that you might not get somewhere else. Staff are nice and when it isn't busy you'll get some nice service if you bring the kids along. Although if you are coming on the weekend I really recommend leaving the toddlers at home! Not a lot of space.
The beans they're serving was a clue straight away that I was up for a good coffee: Crompton Road from 5 Senses, a Nicaraguan single origin and a guest blend - 7 Seeds Seasonal Blend. I opted for a flat white on the guest blend and was thrilled with the result. Rich nut flavours and mild fruit cutting through with very little acidity.
