I feel the consistency has not been the same for awhile on the last 5 occassions i have visited this spot. I would make my pilgrimage on a weekly basis but people have moved on, newies have come in and certainly this has impacted on the consistency and delivery of the brew. The only thing i indulge now days is the occasional chocolate or ground coffee beans but unless there is a consistent change in coffee making quality it is certain my visits will decline to almost a halt.
I've always loved Jasper, biodynamic milk!!, the old kids on the block; roasting a vast array of beans, mostly fair trade (and organic), doing it before all the nu kidz... but it is hard to find a seat between the teacups. Their standard coffee I'm told, is always a double ristretto base. ... .. and I always wonder what happened to make all their long serving staff (10yr plus) suddenly leave to be replaced with relative juniors (a few years back now)... Today I found my latte a little watery , and their single origin coffee is $7! (make sure you choose the one they sell for $55 per 250g).
Cute little place and really needed a coffee hit. Ordered East Timor Maubisse and it was enjoyable. I then followed this with a more expensive latte with Jamaica Blue Mountain Wallenford Estate and it was excellent. Loved the place and the coffee was fantastic. Will be back again.
Located on Brunswick street. in an old building, with exposed brick walls, and original wooden floors. Jasper's is a specialty coffee roaster, Fairtrade Licensed and Certified Organic. For sale inside is an extensive range of coffee beans, coffee machines, and all the other coffee accessories, including beautiful porcelein china and themed furniture, making a fascinating and colourful display through out the shop/cafe. To accompany your coffee, is a fine selection of chocolates, cakes and muffins. Seating area's include, French style covered courtyard, el fresco, and footpath with umbrellas, overlooking Brunswick St. We enjoyed the delicious "Juliet" blend of coffee, very smooth, non acidic, chocolaty, with lingering after taste, with melt in your mouth Rocky Road, perfect. A destination for all coffee lovers.
You can always rely on a good coffee from these girls and guys. It isn\'t really a cafe though. They sell coffee and chocolates but they also will make you a coffee as well. You might wait 30 seconds or 5 mins they are pretty laid back, but you will almost always get a flawless coffee, milk based or pure espresso. Their Long macs are king and flat whites are silky smooth. I stop in whenever I am near, which happens to be a lot. They might be swapped with gawkers but just get yourself to the machine give your order and grab a seat out the front.
