Captains of Industry is a great “Melbourne” café to a T. entry down an alleyway, guess what floor it is on in the building etc. Once you find it, a unique charm awaits, with some nice window seating that overlooks Elizabeth St. During the week the café is always nicely 33-50% full, with plenty of room to spread out or bring a large group – not always easy to find in the city. Nice staff, pretty good coffee too. Not sure of the bean brand but it didn’t matter, it was done well.
Okay - this is now my go-to coffee spot in the CBD. A hidden gem located off Little Bourke St in Somerset Place, it's easy to miss the entrance (2nd door on the left from Lt Bourke) Once there you travel up old wooden stairs to gain entry. The coffee was rich, complex and a delight. Food looks interesting but didn’t taste. Did I say the coffee was WOW? Go there as soon as you can :)
Coffee was sweet and mellow - very tasty indeed. Promptly served with a jug of water too. Service very friendly and attentive. Was a bit quiet when I was there but think that it could get a bit rowdy when busy. Very nice decor, I also like that it's above street level as its a welcome escape from the madness below.
