Last stop for the day, and the menu had some stellar offerings... from the Ethiopian Beriti, to a fresh crop Bolivian. Ethiopian Beriti was the pick of the bunch. With its lemon acidity, and floral aroma, the Beriti worked a treat as a short black.

This place does great coffee, food is really nice too. I don't mind the dinginess given that you are in Collingwood/Abbotsford so it plays to the local student/hipster population and the wannabe hippy kids who drive in from Kew/Hawthorn. Staff are lovely. It is loud inside when there is a crowd, so if you are hearing impaired or want a quiet relaxing spot to have a coffee on the weekend, this probably isn't it. Don't bring your kids.

Double shot. I think the name 'Admiral Cheng Ho' must refer to a Chinese army general who was fond of grabbing his subordinates by the neck and shaking them - the coffee was bone-shaking, with lots of flavour too (ex Kenya).

If you are looking for a great all round experience, make sure Admirals is on your list. Fabulous menu of organic and whole food ingredients, a tea menu to die for, and great coffee. These peeps take their beans seriously. Select your blend and wait for the magic to happen. Great staff, welcoming atmosphere and just the right amount of hipster cool.
