Great coffee, killer atmosphere, with the smell of roasting beans. right next door is a wine and a cheese shop, so really no need to leave all day. I highly recommend a visit. If you normally drink a piccolo, you want to order a 'Gas Par' here. Another term they will understand is 'Cortado'. For some reason, neither is on the coffee menu, but they are exceptionally good.
The lab coats are mercifully gone these days, and the staff have mellowed a bit (no more heated arguments about ristretto!), and the coffee is as reliable as ever. I've been coming here a week or two a year for the past four years as my go-to work & relax place in OC. If you find their Cappucino too milky, try their "Gas Bar".
Atmosphere is interesting albeit sterile with the lab coats etc. There aren't too many good places to get quality specialty coffee/third wave coffee in OC; this place may be the best. They have all the equipment and some good attention to detail. Espresso blend wasn't really for me. Haven't tried any of their single origin espressos but its nice that they offer that. Outdoor seating is a plus.
