Silhouette is worth seeking out - which is just as well, cos no one is going to stumble across it by mistake. From a corner of the Chinese indoor market on Little Newport Street, Lee (formerly lead guitarist with Lostprophets) is serving up truly delicious filter and espresso coffees. The A-board may or may not be out on the pavement - but persevere; you'll find him after only a short look around the indoor market, past the Union Jack souvenir tat and the bureau de change. Sensibly, Lee's not trying to fight the Chinatown vibe - he has some cheerful fake flowers around the place, and a grinning spherical ceramic cat with red ears for luck. At any time he has at least three coffees available as filter (changing fortnightly or so), and suggested to me a James Gourmet Bolivian Copacabana Peaberry, via a Kalita filter. The coffee was lip-smackingly good, with the promised chocolate flavour, and a deeper, fruitier richness to be found as well. The set-up for espresso coffees looks good, with a La Spaziale machine and Goodwood organic milk. There's a teeny selection of cakes and pastries too. Silhouette is only a corner inside the market, so not a place to linger, but there are stools to rest and enjoy your coffee on, and Lee is personable, knowledgeable and opinionated - just what I like! Go, go, go - you won't regret it.
