It’s a shame that the people working in this cafe have such a fundamental misunderstanding of service because the coffee is usually pretty good and my girlfriend and I recently moved to around the corner. For a time now I have been going here frequently because I’ve been working from home. Whilst the service is nothing more than a forced hello when you order, a particular young woman has been has been rather rude throughout my entire experiences at the cafe. I would encourage everyone to patronise many of the other wonderful cafes in Kiama.
I love Bean Roasted Coffee and continue to visit when I’m in The Gong, but the friendliness of staff seems to be waning and isn’t genuine. My husband walked through the door and gave a friendly welcome ( my husband is quite exuberant in his greetings) and the staff completely ignored Him. Poor darling. When it was time for us to be served She was all smiles and friendly. I felt this was put on and we only get it (a friendly response)when it’s our turn! Needs to be consistent, like the coffee!
Stopped here for an afternoon coffee last week around 3pm. They were clearly in the process of packing up for the day. We were made to feel unwelcome due to the packing up in progress. They started stacking chairs around us at 3.30 whilst we were still drinking our coffees. I had a look on the website and it said they close at 4. Very confusing. Won’t be returning.
First time trying Bean Roasted Kiama coffee this morning, first thing was I was greeted instantly walking into the store with a friendly smile and amazing staff members. The coffee was quick and delicious. Best coffee by far Afterwards the staff members asked how everything was and welcomed me back. I will defiantly be coming back here. Great job Bean Roasted Kiama
No service exists. The staff were in no hurry to clear the dirty cups around us, asked for table water and was told we had to get it ourselves (despite the staff standing around), no one came over to asked how our coffees were, no goodbye or thanks as we left. As a local who talks up and recommends many cafes in our town to tourists, this was a disappointing experience.
This cafe looks to be under new ownership. The coffee has gone downhill quite a bit. Also very limited food and very little gluten free options to choose from.

Hi Eztop73. Thanks for your review and sorry that you weren’t completely happy with the experience. There has been no change to the ownership at Bean Roasted Espresso Bars. As an espresso bar we are heavily focussed on specialty coffee and are well known within the local area for our quality. We like to keep our food options simple (we do have some gluten free items). If you would like to discuss this in person I would be more than happy to chat to you. Kind regards- Christian.
For $5.40, it would probably be the worst coffee I've ever had for the price. Very blonde flat white - milk was lumpy and had split from the coffee about 1/4 of the way into the cup. The remainder of the cup was no better than instant coffee. Campos beans are definitely not the worst - they just need a barista capable of doing it justice. As another reviewer noted below, the coffee isn't as good, and is considerably more expensive, than the other Campos cafe in town. Would not recommend.
