Picture perfect double shot flat white, ristretto pour. Tasty beans, could have easily had a second. Bacon and eggs on toast. Can’t really bungle that. Cosy, casual, very friendly hosts.

Great cafe in Salamanca, it’s been a local stalwart for many years, and continues to serve up great coffee and food. Staff are super friendly and service is always excellent, even when they are busy. Coffee is very good, best in Salamanca by far, and up there with the best in Hobart. I’ll be coming back for years to come.

We visited Retro Cafe on 18/10 and was not really impressed with the service; we only wanted to grab some coffee’s & we got the impression from the waitress that we should have been eating not just ordering coffee. We didn’t feel very welcome! The coffee was average & didn’t have a great taste to it. Beautiful location this cafe could be a real winner with a few improvements.

I love my almond flat whites. The coffee here was lovely and strong and the almond milk delish! Lovely, warm atmosphere. Lots of chatter in the background. Comfortable and intimate with friendly staff.

We enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service. They we clearly rushed, but maintained their composure. I had a long black and carrot cake.

The name says it all... Atmosphere is not an issue here. From the retro style coffee machines on the wall to the dinosaur (yes dinosaur, not a typo) sticking its head out above the kitchen. It's defo an off the scale hipster joint. BUT, contrary to the old reviews, the double ristretto, was perfect. Great blend, and a coffee which usually is way over poured, was bang on. Yum. Really tasty food, not lightening quick, but hell, it's tassie, Salamanca and hipster heaven. Don't be in a rush just take a look around and chill. The great tastes are worth the wait. A good example of giving a place a chance, if the reviews are old.
