If you are into Italian (Napolitan) espresso, then this is the place to go. If you hate this extremely dark roasted, super bitter stuff (as I do) - go somewhere else. This is not one of those third wave coffee shops you're searching for - this is just an Italian bistro offering Izzo coffee to the crowd. But: espressi are hand-pressed and the barista really knows his machines and his routines. Maybe it's not his fault that they offer bad beans...
On a beautiful, sunny day in Hamburg, I walked here and back from the centre to grab a coffee. I wasn't disappointed: this part of Hamburg is very pretty, with lots of trees, Altbau buildings and nice cafés; the café itself is very cute, with lovely rough tables made of long beams of wood, and outdoor seating. The cappuccino was pretty good (though not quite as good as Mutterland), a little bit too Italian in style for me, but with excellent latte art. The cheesecake was outstanding. The staff were friendly. I'll be returning here!
