Way to ruin a cafe V.2. They have crammed so much tacky furniture and crap in its hard to navigate the space for customers or staff alike. Terrible toasted sandwich slathered in butter and the coffee was average, and took far too long but drinkable compared to the last owner. This was my favorite place to visit while visiting the Gold Coast, unfortunately I will never be back.
It was a damn shame when the last owner got rid of Blackboard Coffee and put in the undrinkable swill (Campos). When he went out of business many local Blackboard coffee fans had such high hopes for the return of Blackboard. My understanding is that the new owner, a lady from Isle of Capri was advised to reinstate Blackboard but instead she brought with her a bean that is quite bitter and not known. Will most likely never return; you had your chance!
We were regulars of this cafe when in had Blackboards beans which was great. We stopped going when it changed to Campos as the coffee tasted like garbage water. We thought it would be good to give it another chance with its recent change of bean and facelift. We were greeted by a friendly face a few weeks ago (AJ) and the coffee was great. We went back a week later and was served by someone different, we ordered the same thing but this time had to wait an unacceptable amount of time and the end product was poor. An Almond Latte that was undrinkable and we threw out and a long black that was below average (how do you manage to get a long black wrong?). We gave it another shot on Saturday and was disappointed again, staff who looked miserable, long wait on coffee order and uncleared rubbish covering every table. Sorry we won't be returning.
