Visited once a week over past 4 weeks. 3 small flat whites each time. First visit was pretty good. Nicely textured milk, pleasant flavour with good strength. But each visit progressively worse. Very poor today. Ordered three small takeaways flatwhites - one with extra shot. Poured as large and all weak and overheated. Can't recommend these guys based on this performance.
I was trying to get here all last week, but finally made it today. Heard a lot of good about this little John, so i thought it appropriate to put their wares to the palate test. I have to say first up that the service was really warm and fun, the ribs bro' were superb. I LOVE ribs as u can tell by my name!! I always try the ribs where I find them, These are up there with the best. the first thing that hit me in the face was a full blown LM Strada. I thought, ok, these guys just may be in the ball park. Next the very knowledgable Dane is head barista and not only did I get a very enjoyable short lecture on extraction, soluble yield, and roast profiles but I learnt that they use a local roasting company non-other than roastcraft. Do some research, as I did, and you'll find that they are officially noted as one of the best in the country, and right in little old Geelong! Ha! And this barista aint just a puncy latte art queen, he actually knew his stuff. Cool! But the coffee? SUBLIME. Rich in body, with the most perfect balance of acidity Ive experienced, rich malt and cocoa overtones, with a soft stewed fruit mid-palate. A crisp finish that lingered on into choc butter aftertaste even 10 mins later. Bloody awesome! Its the first 10 score Ive ever given. Ive read through the reviews and its obvious these guys are right up there with best. But who is that goose reviewer HAPPYPLACE? I can tell you, its not someone who knows anything about coffee. Yay Geelong! You made my coffee world rock, thanks to John Doe. Oh well, back to Melbs.....
