It had been a year since my last visit and the main change had been to the name. It now thrown away the Peter’s Yard name and joined the other Soderberg establishments in the precinct. Service on a cold Saturday afternoon was stretched and slow and our coffees when they arrived were warm and nothing memorable.

Peter's always seems busy when open and the coffee/food choices are extensive. Service has been excellent, cakes and slices are delicious and coffee has been good. Asked about equivalent of a piccolo latte and was told it was the flat white, so we tried them. Came in a small coffee cup, but did seem to be the equivalent of a large piccolo . Needed a bit more heat, but otherwise tasted quite nice. Not too strong and a pleasant aftertaste

Although I had high hopes for this place, it was incredibly crowded, busy and non-relaxing. My double espresso was extremely disappointing; burnt and bitter in the wrong way. The Swedish cardamom bun however was outstanding.

Amazing coffee expertly prepared. They use artisan roast and prepare it almost as well which is really saying something. Great food and flawless breads too

What a great place! Beautiful La Marzocco and Mazzer with delicious bread-related products as well! Very modern interior and some great big tables to eat at. This place was very popular - no doubt due to its good food and great coffee. I had two Espresso Macchiatos which we were delicious! If you are in the area and want a great coffee - this is a really good choice! BTW - They use Artisan Roast beans (local Edinburgh roaster).

This is a bakery/cafe that uses the finest ingredients for everything. The bread is the best I've tasted and they bake over 100 loaves a day. You can see the baker at work through a large glass window. The coffee is from Artisan Roast and is very, very good. Strong through milk without that common burnt flavour. It's also satisfying as a straight espresso. The 3 gp La Marzocco is kept very busy and it seems that they have dedicated baristas who don't let novices on the machine. The milk is well steamed for texture and a good temperature for drinking. Standard latte art hearts and rosettas. Atmosphere is bright and open with massive glass windows. Big communal table and a few comfy chairs. Scandinavian furniture (not IKEA) and style rules. I had salmon on fresh bread with cream cheese and capers along with parsnip cake. Both fresh and delish.
