Great vibe, great atmosphere, buzzing with a local brunch crowd. Coffee is fantastic, 3 options on the pour over, 2 on the espresso, the latter extracted off a Synesso 2 group. My 3rd coffee of the morning, I was recommended to come here by the previous 2 places baristas. My Colombian was well rounded, medium body, with a nut chocolate taste. The food options are great, the service is friendly fast. Highly recommend coming here when in town. It is on 8th and Sherman The Colorado coffee scene is buzzing, this is a great example of it
I'm no coffee snob, but coming from Melbourne Australia it's fair to say I am used to a standard that it seems hard to find elsewhere. (Sorry elsewhere!) However, I was delighted by the coffee and ambiance at this cafe. Drinking a cappuccino I was transported back to my happy place of coffee bliss back in Melbourne. Two visits and both times the coffee was expertly made and a celebration on my tastebuds! I tend to judge a cafe by the ambience too, and Black Eye really hit that spot too. Plenty of tables, a couple of chairs outside in the sun, wifi and good reads around. It ticked all the boxes I want ticked when I go out in search for my favorite addiction!
Black Eye Coffee is on the northwest side of downtown in an area called the highlands. This was a working class neighborhood that is changing with the times. Black Eye Coffee keeps some of that old fashion charm. They use a piece of railroad track as part of the bar footrest. A beautiful old fashioned cooler sits at the back. Tables adorn one side and quaint bathrooms that have a period design sits on the other. The coffee bar is modern and a 2 group Synesso is the center piece. The day I went, Dustin Audet one of the owners held court and extracted a great shot of Stella for me from Boxcar He is nice and cordial. Overall the place is awesome. This is a current favorite of local barista's. If you are close to the ballpark, this place is just across I-25 off 20th.
