As soon as you walk in you know the coffee is going to be quite decent. Great atmosphere and decor. Friendly and knowledgable staff. As an Aussie I was worried about not getting good coffee here in the states. But I had no worries here. Great coffee, I will be back here again for sure.
The place is getting better if you are looking at it from the coffee end of things. They have changed up their offering of beans to their current offering of Gaslight Coffee Roasters from Chicago, Pilot Coffee Roasters and Forty Weight Coffee Roasters. This allows their Synesso to brew up some new tasty espresso based drinks. So in my mind they are improving by broadening their offerings. It's not just the same bean like ...... you know where.....
Russell Hayward an experienced restauranteur in Dallas is opening up a great cafe/wine bar in the Design District. They roast their own beans and use a finely tuned Synesso to brew their coffee. Their shots are stronger than most because they use 22 ounces of ground beans as their standard shot. Their coffee is syrupy and depending on the bean floral and sweet verses a more traditional espresso taste. The one thing that I liked here is the experience of the baristas. The head barista Mike Mettendorf has "Coffee Sommelier" on his business card. This latte art is very good, and combine this with great coffee and a wonderful atmosphere, this is hard to bear. They also serve pour overs, cold drip and many varieties of espresso drinks. Try our their food too. It is simple, fresh, fast and if it is supposed to be served warm or hot, it will be. This is my new favorite in Dallas, the service more than matches the coffee
