Busy little place with great coffee. Pity my coffee was Luke warm when I received it due to the fact that the waitresses were walking around and had misallocated my table number. I actually flagged down 2 of the waitresses when I saw them hunting for a home for my coffee and later my croissant to no avail. In fact one one the waitresses, shouted something to me that was totally indiscernible from about 10m away when I tried to get her attention. Rookie mistakes for an otherwise good spot. Cannot fault the coffee or croissant though.
The Sandfly cafe is worth visiting. Its polished concrete floor, art work for sale, and rustic wood decor present a warm and inviting vibe. Patrons have a choice of tables, stools or a couch setting. Outdoor seating is available for fine weather. There was no choice of coffee beans that I saw but what was served was well made. A 3 shot large takeaway is available for those with an appetite. The staff were very friendly too. Given the chance, I'll go back.
The place I always visit in Te Anau for a consisently good coffee and food. I have been coming to Fiordland for years filming and have found that the Sandfly is the place that locals favour (you'll always bump into people here that you know). Nice interior space with several couches to relax on, or if it's sunny pick a nice seat outside under umbrellas. Friendly staff. I rate it. Rob Suisted
