Have tried the coffee twice in recent months and was disappointed. Not sure if they are still using Lonsdale Roasters but the coffees were warm at best and left no lasting taste memories. Food seems to have lost its edge too and we left feeling that it’s no longer worth the visit.
FD closed down for a while in early 2018, but has reopened under new owner, Danny Tosolini, who knows a thing or two about running cafes in Canberra. There were a few early hiccups, but FD is back to its best with beans provided by Lonsdale Street Roasters. Good coffee, good service - this is one of my go-to places for an early morning, post-ride coffee with the boys.
I gave FD in the city another try since they changed their beans. I continue to be disappointed, it's so weak and really lacks the sumptuous bitterness of campos... However, Asili in Garema Place have just opened where Tuckshop was (behind Shorty's) and they serve Campos! Horray, and they use Bonsoy for all you soy-drinkers!
I saw on Instagram that they have just changed their coffee supplier so thought that I would make a return to the inner-south. Wow! Pablo and Rusty's poured expertly and delivered to my table promptly. If you weren't sold before then it may be time to give these guys another go. Ten ten ten.
