As a barista myself I was a little disappointed with the service I received. Wanting to buy some beans for the home machine, I picked through what was left to buy and found a 250gm bag to try. Being a little OCD and coffee particular I like to know the roast date (as any barista should) so I know how fresh the beans are, when I can use them in peak age, how I should adjust my grind etc. turning the bag over there is a stamp that says Roast Date and Use By Date neither of which had been filled out. The use by date I don’t really care about, but as a professional business and as a roaster it is unacceptable not to have the roast date on the bag. After asking when they were roasted I wasn’t given a difinitive answer but was “assured” it was roasted by Wednesday at the latest... disappointed with his answer and not wanting to buy beans from the supermarket I still purchased the bag. I am still waiting to use the beans as I’m letting it degas for the appropriate ten days... but I think it’s inexcusable not to have a roast date on your bags. For all I know those bags could have been leftover from the weekend markets previous. Who knows how long they’ve been there. My advice would be to start putting your roast dates on the bag, and to completely know your process, so if someone does ask you a question you’re able to positively tell them the answer. Always be prepared for someone who understands coffee to step up to your counter.
Had a latte and one of their cold brews. Latte was of high standard and the milk was well steamed. The espresso is pulled manually and this is a bit of theatre.. in all a good cup of coffee. The cold brew on the other hand .. was awesome. Served with ice, mint and lemon and lime, this was one of the highlights of my visit. Agree this needs a full time cafe as these markets are not on all the time.
Great tasting coffee but the milk was too hot. Once it had cooled the flavour was delicious. The option to purchase beans is available. Friendly, helpful service. It's a shame no Cafes sell their coffee locally... Available at the Night Markets at Town Beach and Courthouse Markets on weekends.
I haven't had the opportunity to experience Kimberly Coffee in Broome, its still on my bucket list of Coffee Houses I must visit. I have had the immense pleasure of eagerly awaiting my regular shipments of their awesome beans. As an unashamedly diagnosed Coffee Snob I can absolutely recommend Kimberley Coffee beans to any home Batista. Some of the Best I've had in Australia. My overall rating should be higher but I had to Atmosphere and Service down to the collective average until I make it to Broome next year to experience it first hand
