Nice little place. Makes you fee like you are somewhere Middle East-Europe and just casually walked and entered this inner street hidden beauty. Service was friendly. It was busy on a Sunday lunch but luckily we could find a table near balcony area. Ordered a double ris flat white. Latte art was quite exceptional (rosetta base, 2-2-1 tulip. ). BUT I guess barista should clean check his porta baskets more often and not re-stretch milk. Overall very satisfying.
The food here is incredible - sometimes it's a bit slow but that's only because they get extremely busy and it's well worth the wait. The coffee is also really good. They get it out as fast as possible. Really good service too! Friendly staff and a nice place to sit down 💖💖
My first visits to Shouk happened by chance as my friend and I could not get to the place we had originally planned. We were in Paddington and I had not much time as I had another plan after lunch. I suddenly recalled there was a newly open cafe nearby. That is Shouk. We were warmly welcome and found the cafe was nearly packed. We ordered coffee and food - all looked very yummy, and we spent lots of time until we decided what we would like to have. My long black was promptly made and served. It was a little too hot, but well made, and quite enjoyable. My friend's piccolo was sweet and well textured. Food was really good. My friend is a foodie, and gave 10/10 to Persian rice. I tried some and was amazed by how flavoursome it was. It was nicely spiced with a bit of sweetness from pomegranate. They should serve rice as a single item. My friend ordered another coffee after our meal without realizing we overstayed after the closing time. We visited Shouk after half a year, and found the place was just packed. We made a group booking, but it was not in the book. They were not so apologetic, which made a person who originally had made a booking very unhappy with the situation. I guess even though the place is among places that are very popular in town, they should treat customers much nicer - in the end, unhappy customers certainly damage the business. They managed to secure a table for us in the end, and things went well afterward. We all ordered coffee and food. I ordered a short black with hot water - it was nicely made with lots of sweetness and no tarty taste as well as a good body. Food was, again, very enjoyable. Service was really attentive, and when one of our group sort of complained about her food, they offered a free cup of coffee. All people at Shouk were seemingly working really hard but never forgot being polite and smiles. Coffee is not their core product, but still, they serve good coffee that some coffee-centric cafes fail to serve.
