If you find yourself up the Ann and George Streets end of the city head down the garden path of George for a quick moment out. The upstairs sitting area is your grandma's living room, but it's the courtyard garden nestled between the buildings that makes Java Coast so nice.
Service was terrible, toast was burnt, dust everywhere inside, loud weird music. I heard ome of the guys yell at the young girl working there to do the dishes when I left he was doing nothing and she was working her butt off. And my hot choc was too hot and tasted disgusting. Never going there again
Dropped in to Java Coast Cafe because of the "relaxed atmosphere" and to make an interviewee feel at ease. When the waitress brought two flat whites instead of two long blacks (morning of 13 Feb) she appeared annoyed when I said that the order was incorrect. I was by no means rude. I was certain that I had made the correct order as I watched the register operator write "lb". The waitress then reluctantly returned with the two long blacks - not a word of apology or explanation. In fact, she gave me a dirty look as she walked away from the table. This is the first time I've ever received rude service at any cafe in Brisbane. I would expect better guys!
had the pizza and the cajun chicken burger, both cooked perfectly. the coffee was perfection. for anyone complaining about the bitterness, real coffee is espresso and espresso is supposed to be bitter. crema was perfect (thick and slightly bitter) coffee itself was strong but also with a lingering smooth bitter aftertaste. if you want sweet pretend coffee this isnt the place for you, stick to merlo.
