Had their own Bourbon blend in a FW. Damn good! The reviews were confusing because the business used to be located in Tambourine. THat said, whenever they relocated they brought a huge on site coffee roaster with them. Spotted a mini roaster too. Great aroma in the cafe, am interested to try their other blends next time I'm passing.
Coffee Roasters early morning and lunch
Stumbled across this lovely gem of a shop. I have been up in the Mt Tamborine area all day killing time while I waited for my daughters scout activities finished. I have my mother for company. We have settled in to the cafe at the table at the front of the shop. A complimentary courier Mail newspaper spread out across the table. I have ordered a large flat white and a salted caramel mud cake. Both have not disappointed. The coffee was well brewed and the salted caramel mud cake was warmed up to make it nice and gooey. My mother, also a flat white aficionado has ordered a fig and orange cheese cake as her tasty treat. "The fig and orange cheesecake is absolutely delicious" she has claimed and her flat white was made to perfection as well. We totally recommend Hillbilly Coffee as a place to visit on your next trip up to Mt Tamborine.
Both Beanhunter and the local information centre recommended this place. The latter stating that this is where the locals hang out. So we thought we would give it a go. We were not disappointed. Our FWs were exceptionally good. A full flavour burst on the first sip, slight acidity and no bitter aftertaste. Excellent choice of food options to make this place a good cafe experience. I would definitely return if in the Brisbane / Gold Coast region.
An amazing place at 7am. A hive of activity with lots of patrons enjoying coffee and breakfast. Will be heading back to sample the interestingly different range of homemade cakes. The freshly baked cherry, chocolate and coconut muffin with coffee was just wonderful!
Well, it's been a while since I was last here. In fact the last time I was disappointed to see how badly the coffee had gone down hill since it first opened. We hesitated, but it seems to be such a lovely space, now they have opened up more seating at the back. Staff were friendly and we ordered some lunch from the cabinet and our coffees. I love Mt Tamborine and being able to get a good coffee up here would just be icing on the cake. So we waited hopefully. It was good, way better than we expected, stronger, better extraction and a nice robust flavour. The mouth feel was lovely and the temp was perfect. Overall a really enjoyable coffee yay! I see they are still stocking Hillbilly beans, so not sure what the story is with the roasting and location of the roasting but the result was nice.
I wasn't expecting much from this cafe. No table service. A tad expensive. The coffee took too long to arrive, but when it did, it was great. A little too hot. But a great flavour. I like it strong, but not if it's bad, so I only got a double latte just in case, but I wish I got a triple. Yum.
Got a coffee for the trip back to Brisbane. Nice, and busy with a great vibe. Cashier must have been new and got our order slightly wrong, but that's okay, it wasn't a big deal. We had maybe 5 orders in front of us, so with that in mind the time it took to make was quick! Definitely one of the best coffee places to visit whilst on Mt. Tamborine :)
