Thriving takeaway service in a pedestrian laneway indicates popular with local office workers. Tried long black in a cup, service was good. Coffee arrived with good crema coverage. Initially very hot and a bitter edge to the taste. Flavours hard to detect as a result and taste was acceptable overall.
"Hidden Gem" is right. You don't see it easily from the street. They surprised me with a mug when I ordered a flat white. I don't know if they do any other sizes. They used Merlo coffee. I gave my coffee a score of 7 out of 10 and the atmosphere an 8. They weren't open on Saturday morning when I went back. 31/03/2017

The friendly staff remember your name and your choice of drink like they remember to smile and say good morning. And whether it's Cassie, Emma, Max or any of the other wonderful baristers and staff making your coffee you can be assured of a delicious brew coming you're way very quickly. My day in the office isn't complete without a couple of visits to the cafe because saying hello to the team at Espresso Engine each day is as important to me as my many coffee's
