I saw this cafe after visiting a new blackstar joint, and got curious as they proudly said they were using Allen's coffee beans. I personally don't like Allen's much, but based on reviews, it should be good. I happened to catch up with a friend who works in the area, so chose Chapter Two as a place to meet. The place is really spacious at the foyer of a new building. They have two entries that make many customers a bit confused. There are two high tables close to the counter and the main entrance so clients who can take one of them can enjoy a nice view of both coffee making and people walking by. It looks very corporate: Clean, crisp, but character-less. A cafe for convenience and meetings outside the office. I waited for my friend about 10 minutes, and wait persons walked around, but they never asked if I had already ordered coffee or needed anything. Maybe most of their clients are corporate customers, so they prefer not being bothered. My friend ordered latte and I ordered flat white. Coffee took a little bit of time to be served, but the girl who brought them in was really cute and friendly. I had a sip. It was not too strong, but very monotonous. It tasted very commercial. It was well-made, but like the shop itself, it didn't have any character. The serving was really good though. Maybe many clients stay there to talk, not for enjoying coffee. Chapter Two is not a bad cafe if meeting some people is the main purpose as there are many tables though I had a problem with hearing what my friend said because of lack of noise absorption and the location - inside the foyer.
New cafe. I believe they are using Mocopan house blend. Very prompt service, was served within minutes of ordering. Floor space is still being finished, so there aren't many seats available, but atmosphere is convivial. My long mac was very good, strong but not bitter and with only a modest 'mark' of foam on top, just the way I like it. Will definitely be back for more next time I am over this side of the city.
