I’m originally from Melbourne and love trying coffee. My Southern relatives even agree that Bunker (and it’s sister cafes, Bessa and John Mills Himself) are a benchmark of amazing coffee served from unique ‘hole in the wall’ locations. You don’t need to travel to try truly great coffee. It’s a testament to its longevity that this Milton institution won’t disappoint.

Amazing in this fast moving world that Bunker is still going strong nearly 10 years after I first reviewed them. So many coffee places fail to survive but Marcus has spread his wings and opened in more locations. Whatever I said previously still applies- most amazing as since the floods in 2011 Milton has changed out of all recognition - old Queenslanders have been replaced by tower blocks. The morning rush queue out the door bears testament to how good they are at making coffee.

Super unique location, well-made coffee, great atmosphere, mind-blowingly delicious hot chocolates, and really friendly staff.

I love coffee. And I go to a lot of coffee shops. I just find that in the last few years I tend to compare everyone to Bunker. Unlike some mates who tend to go to one place regardless of quality and consistency, I love to go and try new and different places as much as I can because it’s fun. And yet I find myself coming back to Bunker at least 3-4 times a week and they never disappoint. They love coffee. They know coffee. It’s consistently good and they’re so friendly- what’s not to like?
