Back again. What can I say, it's just got a blend of magic going on. Seriously it's about the people, the location, the baked goodies and a decent cuppa. If you're overly serious on coffee or pretentiously snobish on the perfect temp, it just might not be for you because this is a package deal and I'm not promising you be all end all coffee - it's more than just about the bean on this one.
Often one goes on a cycle with no destination in mind. soon enough you find yourself somewhere you had no idea you were going. How lucky was I!! This is a fantastic little spot. As you meander along the river and cross the Goodwill you'll be greeted by the friendliest of baristas. Usually the owner Brendan. Right in the middle of the bridge, it's tucked to the side with a gorgeous outlook to while away the morning with the sun shining down. With a welcoming 'Hello', I was drawn in. Brendan and his crew do seem to know everyone by first names, and greet those they don't like they will soon be the best of friends. The baked products are delicious. The coffee is Merlo, and although not my favourite a good barista can work magic on it. My sister had been before when visiting from overseas and spoke highly of the brownies so I had to try two in the end! It'll be my half way point. Half way to somewhere, halfway to anywhere, pretty much going to figure out how to work those peanut butter brownies into my route no matter where I'm going.
This place is brilliant. It is unique being probably the only place in Brisbane on the water, and is conveniently located for those on the South Bank side commuting to uni, the city or just taking a walk in that route. The barista who runs the cart - Brendon Harris - is very friendly, has amazing talent as a barista and is often open for most of the waking hours of the day, even the Sabbath. His wife cooks some amazing sweets, and there are often about a half dozen choices to choose from if you are so tempted. As it says on the tin, this place is on a bridge and everyone involved - Brendon and his customers - benefits from a wonderful view of the city. Most days, the elements are friendly with fresh air, wind and just the right amount of sun. Watch out for regular specials - he is a generous guy - that pop up from an additional extra (flavour shot, soy milk etc) for no cost to a Cram Grand Slam (during exams, a short black with a shot of milk and sugar). The coffee is some of the best the city has to offer. I have nothing bad to say about this place.
