Beanhunter Coffee Club – Moto Specialty Coffee

Written by Jamie|30, June, 2021

Moto Specialty is always a hotly anticipated offering by our subscribers. So much so, we couldn’t wait any longer to share their amazing coffee with you once again!

Since we last showcased their delicious offerings, Moto has undergone HUGE development and has heavily invested in the top tier specialty market.
Superstar head roaster Lachy Evans has spent the last 7 years, perfecting his craft and developing his brand to become what it is today.

With a strong base established in regional Victoria (particularly around the Macedon ranges), Moto has now launched its assault on the Metro market, offering up a monster selection of the best microlots harvested from around the world.

“We’ve kept the operation fairly tight up until this point. Pulling the long, late hours. I’ve been extremely passionate about this project for a really long time. And now, we’re in a position to build our team up with some of the industries heavy hitters, to help take Moto to the next level.”

Our recent staffing additions include a new warehouse, roasting staff and new sales team.

Making up part of our new staffing line-up is Corey Williams, one of the Melbourne specialty coffee industry’s most notorious professionals. Corey’s reach will stretch across the metro area, focussing on account training and development. With a flair for fancy latte art and a trophy to his name from the 2020 Australian Specialty Coffee Championships, we anticipate his influence will greatly benefit the customers we support.

“Any roaster has the ability to sell you coffee, of course. But we consider all of our accounts to be more like friends. I personally place a huge level of importance on communication with our accounts and treat every one of them as though they were my own businesses. I’m very passionate about supporting café owners and their staff. It’s been a tough 18 months for them. So I definitely want to help the industry through the back end of the Covid struggle.”

With the latest development, you can expect to see a lot more of Moto Specialty all around Victoria! Our major focus going forward is to share our great product with more people. All across the country……….. And potentially all across the world.

The coffee we’ll be showcasing with this release is our Racer blend.

The Racer blend offers up a modern take on a classical composition. Specifically designed to satisfy not only the top tier coffee aficionados, but also the casual home coffee brewer.

The classic combo of Brazilian Sao Paulo (from the Alta Mogiana region), balanced with a Colombian Popayan (from the Huila region).

We roast each coffee individually to maximise the sweetness and qualities of each component. And then weigh and balance the profile manually, to ensure that every blend is consistent and perfect in every way.

What you can expect from the cup is a bold chocolate-like profile with a hit of dark cocoa, with a mild orange acidity.

This coffee is the ultimate crowd-pleaser, which is why it stands unopposed as the single most popular blend at our roastery. While we can appreciate that everyone enjoys coffee differently, we feel that this coffee best enjoyed in the company of friends.

Moto Specialty has been roasting its award-winning coffee in Malmsbury (in regional Victoria) since 2014. If you’re in the area, be sure to stop in for a visit. We’re sure they’ll put the kettle on for you.

And be sure to browse their online offerings to see if you can’t be tempted by their growing list of amazing Single Origin and 90+ selections!

To follow Moto’s journey, make sure you find them on Instagram and Facebook!
