Captains of Industry is a great “Melbourne” café to a T. entry down an alleyway, guess what floor it is on in the building etc. Once you find it, a unique charm awaits, with some nice window seating that overlooks Elizabeth St. During the week the café is always nicely 33-50% full, with plenty of room to spread out or bring a large group – not always easy to find in the city. Nice staff, pretty good coffee too. Not sure of the bean brand but it didn’t matter, it was done well.

Relatively spacious set up for a café in the Prahran area with a nice big outdoor table for the warmer months. Staff are accommodating and polite. Coffee was nice but nothing to get excited about. Keen to try again just to ensure my bleary eyes/head weren’t the cause of me not loving the coffee!

This place has changed hands a number of times over the years I believe. But now it is in good hands when it comes to coffee. Array of 5 Senses beans made on some great equipment with care. The café itself lends itself to a bit of sunlight too in the middle of the day which is getting harder and harder to find in South Yarra. Food also looks like it is worth trying.

Wasn’t sure what I was going to get when I walked in and couldn’t see any brand names for the beans. But what was presented was a spot on coffee which had a lot of tasting notes as described on the blackboard. Can’t fault that! Cute little store just off Toorak Road too.

East Side is new to the Exhibition St between Flinders Lane/Flinders St area that has seen some great quality coffee shops open up within a few hundred metres of each other (Bonnie & Vacation the most recent additions) how does it stack up? Pretty good! The coffee is These Days, which is roasted in Richmond and the standard beans I had were sweet in mildly acidic (kind of reminded me of Vacation’s coffee tbh) and made to good order! They have 3 sizes for take-away but be warned the small/medium are 1 shot, while the large is 2 shot, so you might need to order an extra shot per cup if you want that kick! Décor is a little lacking to be honest, but is quiet place to get some work done. The staff are friendly and the sandwiches looked great.

Been meaning to write about this place for awhile. Great coffee! These guys are tied to Vertue Coffee Roasters who are based in Carlton, they have a huge variety to beans to choose from if you need to come in and pick up a bag for home. They even use a different variety depending on the milk base you choose, which means Soy/Almond milk lovers will get a great non-curdled coffee every time. Staff are also really friendly and know their stuff. This place is where the old “Off Swan” café used to be. I thought that place was the best coffee in Richmond, well I think the new direction has made the coffee even better!

Not an easy place to find. Surprisingly large interior which had a clean industrial feel. Coffee lately has been Proud Mary's beans. The coffee has been good some days and ok on others. Friendly staff. Weekends have a much better vibe than during the slow weekdays.
