Had coffee here every day for a week - it was perfect every time. Most places in Brisbane can’t pull off that kind of consistency. Absolutely brilliant coffee in a beautiful place. I left the first review here a year ago and I wanted to remedy it because it wasn’t high enough. Crescent Head doesn’t know how lucky it is to have such amazing coffee right on the beachfront.
peteryock reviewed BLACVKFISH COFFEE
The blackboard put the front says ‘voted best coffee in Crescent Head!’ So I thought I’d better leave a review saying it’s not true. It’s ok. Not great. Mike tasted weak and slightly burnt. If you’re after the best tasting coffee, go to SurfSliders. But if you’re not a coffee snob and like a funky vibe, Blackfish will do just fine.

I reviewed Dovetail a year ago, and gave it a 'good review', but since then I've been back so many times I want to revise and submit a new one. I've visited Dovetail probably a hundred times in the last year. I don't know any other place that makes beautiful coffee so consistently. I'm talking flat whites, doppios, filters, piccollos, the works. They also happen to do amazing food. The staff work so hard at making good coffee. I wish more places were like them, but really, there aren't. They're a big step above most. They're brilliant at service and always up for either the chat or the privacy you're after. The setting is peaceful, quaint, beautiful, and contributes to a 'getting away from it' vibe. But the thing that stands out the most is the coffee. Their regular hard work to make Uncle Joe's Purple Haze taste amazing; the frequent other offerings from Uncle Joe's and more: so good. The effort they put into dialling in the sweet spot every day, having the best baristas, and best gear, is spot on. This is my first 10.0 review and wouldn't be surprised if its my last. Seriously, if you're after good coffee come here. If I have my way I'll be back another hundred times at least.

Been coming to Crescent Head for thirty years, and now, with much joy, delighted to say there's finally excellent coffee here. Had a well made double shot flat white. They're using beans from single origin roasters in Sydney. Yay.

thank you Peter, was a pleasure to serve you, hope to see you again soon. Our Single 'O' blend is 'Sweet Killerbee' for future reference, smooth with lots of toffee & caramel notes.. glad you enjoyed it.

Great find - this place is excellent. Coffee on point. Both filter and espresso. Great options for espresso. Roast their own stuff. Barista visited me 3 or 4 times throughout my stay to check in on how I was finding the coffee and his thoughts on it. Also love their impressive range of coffee gear and toys. Well worth a visit. Or many more.

Fantastic coffee - by far the highlight. Had both Seven Seeds' Golden Gate and Dukes espresso blend as flat whites. Both very well made. Intense flavours without even a hint of the unwanted bitterness. Soft and tasty - both blends bringing unique flavours out of the beans, both great with milk. Enjoyed a second Golden Gate on the piccolo as well.

Visited here a couple of times in the last week - always excellent coffee. They have their own thing going - it's a unique experience, driven by their own beans. Impressive variety of coffee on offer. Very helpful staff who gave advice on which coffee to choose. The beans I bought for home are so fantastic.
My wife and I visited Beau's every day of our weeklong holiday in Caloundra. It's one thing to get an outstanding coffee at a cafe; it's another thing entirely to get it every single time you visit, no matter how busy the cafe is. Beau's nails it every time. They also happen to do amazing food (including custom catering for food intolerance) and have incredibly friendly and helpful staff. I've been impressed by the fact that every time I've been in they've had a different coffee bean on offer too. The barista talked me through multiple single origin offers on different days. Which I really appreciate. I love the place.

Been here a bunch of times, and have found the coffee to be generally high. But on Sunday morning it was the best coffee I've ever had there. Fantastic flavour. Impeccably made. It was a flat white on the Coffee Supreme 'Origins' blend. Such a nice dark richness. Perfect temperature. On a funny side note, one table was filled with some of Melbourne's finest and famous baristas - of various levels of fame - in town for Cafe Biz competing for the World's Richest Barista competition. The staff were oblivious of the calibre of their customers :). But it wouldn't have mattered because clearly they were in their finest form!

Great place. Passionate about coffee. And they know their stuff. Uncle Joe's goodness through and through. When I mentioned I was keen to try both the beans they had on offer as flat whites, the barista brought me their house blend as a flat white, plus also a complementary short black of the same bean, which he recommended I should sip over 20mins to appreciate the flavour. Very nice acidity, also fruity flavour. Drinking as flat white and short black simultaneously was amazing. What a great way to enjoy the taste of a roast! The second bean on offer - the name of which escapes me - was also great. Darker, richer, fuller, sweet. The flavour lingered for hours. Which means it was made impeccably. It was a little cold there in the early morning - quite a wind gale blows through there, even on a sunny day! Just hadn't quite dressed for it. What an amazing cafe to have in a nearby backstreet. On a side note, breakfast was also great. Some great and surprisingly inexpensive but quality options, and heaps of gluten free options too. Nice. I'll be back.
Great new cafe. I'd heard that Lamkin Lane was the best place for coffee in Caloundra. Went there, and it was excellent. Stumbled on Beaus later in the day - it was even more amazing. So great we were back again within a few hours. Both visits were excellent. Coffee tasted very rich, was very carefully made. The barista took his time to make it well and obviously knew his stuff. Very friendly staff. Also excellent food - enjoyed a GF/DF cake - also way above average. Funky vibe, great ppl, great view. Would come here all the time if I could.

Outstanding coffee. Had the house blend on milk. And also the single origin on milk. House blend was a big highlight. Darker, rich, sweet, fill your mouth flavour, knock you for six goodness. With a long lingering aftertaste. One of Melbourne CBD's best for sure.

Excellent coffee. But after visiting both here and seven seeds cafe, think I'm working out that their house blend is a bit too light and fruity for me. Great place if you prefer a lighter roast. Trendy little spot to sit and enjoy.
It was excellent coffee. Not quite as rich as they suggested - particularly after tasting some of the other coffee nearby. But really - very good. If you like something between a light roast and a stronger, knock you for six dark roast, this is the place.
peteryock reviewed Seven Seeds
Fantastic place. Coffee very good. Had a flat white on their house blend and a Piccollo on the Colombian single origin. The latter was best. House blend was nice but not quite as punchy as I like. Still, it's what many are after. Single origin Piccollo was excellent. Brekky also great.
peteryock reviewed Proud Mary
Beautiful coffee. House blend was not quite as good as I expected, given the reputation. But re single origin Brazilian was very good. Brekky also good. Nice funky vibe. Friendly staff. Amazing machine - and very obvious that every shot of coffee is made with utmost care.
peteryock reviewed Cup of Truth
Great coffee. As good as coffee at Axil. Definitely up there in terms of what Melbourne has to offer. House blend works really well with milk. Not really a place to hang - subway walkway - but obviously incredibly practical for commuters.
These guys absolutely nailed it. Close to the best coffee I've had in Melbourne yet. The house blend was outstanding - so smooth and sweet and rich. The single origin - Colombian, El Meridiano AA - was full-on, intense, bittersweet- and long-lingering. The food was just as awesome - which was a big part of the highlight. Would love to go back again.
peteryock reviewed Plantation
Went to the new Plantation Specialty Coffee in QV, only been open for 12 days - couldn't find any option other than this to review on BeanHunter. Super nice guys. Helpfully talked me through best option to have with milk. Amazing looking new coffee machine. And great tasting coffee. Very good. Obviously being in a QV walkway means that the atmosphere is more shopping centre than serene - but they're making it work. Well worth a try.
Had the Seven Seeds seasonal blend (Brazil/Colombia) on milk. Very intense flavour. Long lingering. Reminded me of the intensity of Coffee alchemy in Sydney. No attempt at latte art whatsoever - like it would be beneath them. Maybe it would be. Left a strong impression - both in flavour and in respectability. Some seats would be nice. But not really the vibe they're going for. The standing room only works for the CBD takeaway. Highly recommended for good reason - an experience. Almost like they have their own thing going - not a cafe, not a hole in the wall - they're a coffee bar, and you're not expected to stay long. Pretty cool.

Funky place, has that excellent combo of BOTH excellent food AND excellent coffee, surprisingly hard to find. Great room. Spacious. Friendly staff. Brekky was excellent. The coffee was very, very good. Full flavoured. Rich. Nutty. Had both the Brazilian and Colombian single origin options. The Code Black Brazilian was a highlight.
peteryock reviewed First Coffee Co
Great new place. Fantastic coffee - melt in your mouth flavour. I had the Dramanti blend - it reminded me a bit of the blend served at Dramanti in Wynnum, but this was different. Had its own thing going. Lingering full flavour. Impeccable coffee art and milk texturing, served in unique ceramic cup. Loved it. My only disappointment was not having time to stay and try their second blend. Some more shadier seats would be great, but they've really made the most of the tiny space they have, and on a winter morning it would've been perfect.
peteryock reviewed The Base Espresso Bar
Not bad. Not great. For the first few sips I thought it might've just been a roast that's darker than my preference. But I like dark roast. It was just too bitter, edging on burnt. Being right on Old Cleveland Rd makes it hard to have a good vibe, not really their fault - they've done a good job with the space they have.
