Exceptional London coffee bar. Regular beans from Nude and The Barn, plus great guests (I found Colonna and Clifton beans in last time I was there). Spacious, good food offering, nicely presented, staff know what they're talking about... currently my favourite coffee shop in central London.

Lovely Workshop outpost, hidden just off Oxford Street in chilled Fitzrovia. Workshop coffee is some of the best roasted in London, and they brew it almost as well. Some of the best options of filter you'll find (V60 or Aeropress, with a couple of single origin options on the menu), water while you wait (no asking required), and a decent range of kit. Food looks good, but is overpriced, and the coffee is on the dear side, combined with a rather pokey back room for sitting in, means this isn't quite my favourite shop in the area, but they roast so well, I'll happily drop in just for the beans.

Hate this place! Always full to bursting, nowhere to wait for a table that isn't in everyone's way (and the staff aren't afraid to let you know you're right in their way). Food average at best, coffee similar, and the weekend staff don't know what they're serving you. Roast their own, which I've tried at home, but it's nothing special – over-roasted, and too much emphasis on blends over single origin.

No question, the best speciality coffee venue in the UK. Maxwell and his team offer the best coffee (range and quality), the best service, training, food, premises, everything. If you like speciality coffee, you owe it to yourself to make the pilgrimage (or just move to Bath). And given he's recently started roasting as well (with amazing results), the best just got better!

Not a pleasant place to visit. No filter offering to speak of, and it's in a Tesco, so is as busy/noisy as you'd expect. Wanted to buy some decent filter beans, but they had none available – they did sell some straight from the hopper, but getting a straight answer on their origin was like blood from a stone.
