Some absolutely great new beans at the Hub. Couldn't go past my favourite Gold Coast destination and the drive was definitely worth it. Red Velvet cupcake was unbelievable and a double shot latte was very fruity but no bitterness. Milk was frothed to perfection (as always) and the staff were very attentive. 3 Hours later I have a taste in my mouth that I never want to lose. That's the sign of a good coffee

Very very nice. Back on the coast for the week and had heard of Borough barista online, but accidently appear to have found the brother cafe Barefoot. The coffee was exceptional, one of the nicest I have had on the coast. Houe blend was so flavoursome and the milk just perfect! Happy Louis.

This place just keeps getting better and better. Down for the week and back to my favourite coffee hang out on the Gold Coast. Love the new fit out and the new staff were very responsive and caring. Had both house and single origin lattes. The first was well balanced and actually had some great colour and acidity whilst the Yirgacheffe S.O was beautifully smooth and enjoyable.

Before heading home I couldn't resist a sunday afternoon coffee with a bit of live music to bring some positive to a wet and miserable weekend. My coffee was exceptional. YET AGAIN. It was dark, rich and full of flavour and the pleasant little cookie on the side made it so much better. Having read some of the recent reviews this place has received I am somewhat surprised but can understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea (or coffee). The place exudes positivity and an eagerness to impress - it's fresh, clean and really retro - a far cry from the dingy, dark little specialty coffee places I became accustomed during my time in Melbourne. Only reason I can't give this place a 10/10 is because they didn't make my coffee for me before I arrived, as the rating suggests. Other than that just perfect and somewhere you could definitely take the family or even a date ;)

My beanhunter radar said that this was the top rated coffee on the GC at present with an 8.6 rating so figured I should try it out. My experience was sadly not quite of the same quality as some other coffees I have had on the Gold Coast, however, it wasn't terrible. Had a short mach followed by a latte. Short mach was over-extracted and noticably so as the cup smelt of burnt and overexposed, but as I figured the coffee was probably more suited to a creamier based coffee like a latte. Latte was lovely, nothing to overpowering but simple and enjoyable. Nice little fit out as well. Simple, but does the job!

Back down on the Coast for the weekend and having looked at my previous reviews I figured my 2.5 was probably slightly harsh considering some of the other crap in the area. I gave Canteen another try and was pleasantly surprised it was like a new cafe. A great blend and really nice colour to their extraction. On the verge of being slightly bitter but considering my last coffee it was 100000 times better. The bunker style fit-out is really unique and despite having the same Ikea lights in my house it makes the coffee an actual experience. Like being transported to another era to drink specialty coffee. Service - Meh, but when your just having a coffee there is only so much service you can get! Definitely won me back after a dismal first experience.

Last day on the coast and found two specialty coffees virtually next to each other and they both rock. A real fruity blend that is very pleasant drinking. The guys seem to know what's going on and its a simple / relaxed atmosphere. I agree with some of the previous comments that the service and atmosphere isn't mind blowing, but the coffee is smooth, easy drinking. I'm loving this little pocket of the Gold Coast. I will be back next time I'm on the coast!

Grabbed another coffee just before I head home. And once again I was not disapointed. Bold and acidic, but I still can't put my finger on what fruits are emanating through the coffee. Took about 5 minutes to get a latte, but thats understandable considering the place was packed for lunch - could hardly find a seat. Only disapointment occured when my cup was empty... And the fact that I missed the reveal of their single origin tomorrow. Got to have a good chat with one of the managers too - really knew the coffee and was just a down to earth good bloke. I will be back - just might take a while!

Thanks for another great coffee today guys! Think you have made a wise decision putting up what beans are in your coffee on the board, now these people wingeing about it have nothing else to say - water off a duck's back. Your coffee is impeccable! It's not to bold and not too acidic - just a nice, easy drinking blend! We'll keep coming back! Louis

This is one place I need to get back to! Had a machiatto every day on my last visit and their set up is pretty impressive too. These guys can stand on their own two feet when they call themselves a specialty coffee - you can smell the aromas from a mile away and the acidity and depth in their coffee is second to none. There was so much crema too - the best!

Holiday on the Coast was accompanied by a couple of stop overs at the 'specialty coffees' of the coast and to be honest I was unimpressed. The hype that everyone else goes on about is really unwarranted as nothing I experienced came close to the Mlebourne and Brisbane cultures. There just in a different ball game. My machiatto was standard and there was apparently a real acidity and fruity nature in my blend but ... I must have missed that. If I wanted a coffee like the one I got I would have wasted my money on a merlo and sat somewhere actually inviting. Though, my wife liked her Latte so she can write a review for you guys too!

Holiday on the Coast last week and had a Campos at Commune. Nice coffee and my wife's latte was superb - but I think it was because any real flaws in the coffee were covered by a the creaminess of it. My machiatto was a different story - bitter and verging on luke warm - the aroma was nostril burning and really shouldn't have made the table. Unimpressed!

Its tough going getting a good coffee in Harvey Bay. My machiatto looked quite good at first, a decent crema - rich in colour and nice presentation. The aroma was simply magnificent but the mach really lacked that syrupy fruitiness I expected in the body - i think it was probably a couple of seconds over-extracted or dripped out a little which really diminished an underlying acidity that was evident in their coffee. I'll give it aanother go sometime this week so hope its fixed!
