Insight reviewed The Hub @ Varsity
I wrote a review below of a disappointing experience I had. Despite this, I think comments like 'not a serious coffee venue' are unduly harsh. The 10 ratings are also extremely undue. I have already said that this place is by far the best in its locality, bu t it is a long haul from some of the best coffee shops in SE Qld. Those who give it anything more than a 7.5 desperately need to visit some other high rating coffee shop instead of jumping to the defence of their hip new hang out. We don't need more arrogant coffee shop owners out there. I think it is positive that they now alert customers to what they are serving. Like I have said, I don't like all single origins and like to decide what I want to drink - a double ristretto is potent, over quickly, yet lingers. I appreciate that they have been honest enough to let us know its a Wolff blend (I knew that when I tasted it, the major roasters produce identifiable flavours) - you ought to give credit when that's half of your success. Thus the points that give this place real credibility are its equipment and its product. The inconsistency, lack of knowledge and quality of customer service are points which a good establishment must always endeavour to prove. You do not deserve anything more than a 7 at this point in time. In time, with experience, you should and hopefully will improve. Don't let your eager locals make you arrogant.
