Down in Sydney for a three day visit and was staying in the William Street area, had not had much luck in the cbd for a decent coffee and was getting really disappointed. Turning to Beanhunter to find a decent coffee in the Kings Cross/Potts Point area...we were directed to Llankelly Lane. We got to the Cafe and it was tiny, busy and as the day was cold and the the lane in shade.....we just couldn't do it. Had to find somewhere warm and protected. As we turned to walk away we saw Panhandlebar. It had such a funky fitout, smiling friendly staff and a nice roomy inside area, we jumped at it. Inside was a great looking espresso machine and Toby's Estate beans on offer. Our coffees were delivered fast and well made, rich and full of flavour. Simple and nice latte art but the dark delicious crema won me over. Just what had been lacking in the other coffees we had tried in Sydney. Overall the Barista was making great coffees, with a lovely lingering flavour on the palate. Food from a simple menu, and what we had for brekky was lovely. This place has only recently opened and I think may have been called something else prior. But it certainly has charm and loads of character. The retro, furniture, the miss matched chairs, the wall posters and the quirky cups all add up to a really nice spot to enjoy a damn fine coffee. On our next trip we would love to come back and see the Cafe booming and receiving more reviews. Find it, it's worth a visit. :)
