Reviews of Luxe Espresso (Newtown)
Great service from the staff who were so accommodating for our group, although it took a little while for our meals to come. The food and coffee were outstanding and reasonably priced. Flat white was perfectly balanced, long black was a little bitter but still good. I'll definitely be back.
A nice bright place with pleasant staff. My coffee however was pretty average - not sure whose beans they use but it was nothing special. Good temp, good texture, but weak. Also, the guys in my group all had horrible poached eggs - they were way overcooked. We made sure we let staff know as we left and we got the impression it's not the first time they've been told that.
Its definitely hard being right next door to Campos, but it does help to have some of the best bread in Sydney. If this was only judged on coffee, the Luxe falls a bit short, but when you factor in that is actually a great cafe with excellent produce then it rates quite well. Like coffee, all banana breads are not equal, and Luxes is awesome. Worth a go, you wont be dissapointed
The coffee brew highlights the complexities of their bean while still giving having a real kick, there are a huge range of freshly prepared sandwich and pastry options available with the barista and wait staff clinically efficient. Customers should note that Luxe can get crowded, especially during food service and you may need to wait for seating. Also, accept that their prices reflect the preparation time and quality of the ingredients.
