I've reviewed Stumptown already, but I think their Seattle locations deserve some love too. Consistently exceptional coffee!

Great coffee, great service. I bought a coffee dripper kit here, it was a fairly busy morning time but baristas assisted me in a very pleasant, friendly manner, it came with a free latte and a bag of beans.

I really like the environment if you excuse the obligatory bearded men. Otherwise the coffee was good though my espresso con panna was more than I wanted sweetness-wise. I'd chalk that up to bad decisions rather than bad coffee.

Wonderful helpful and knowledgeable staff. Make great coffee. Unfortunately they don't make single origin coffee but they do roast it! (So you can make it at home)

Yep, I'd also read 'God in a cup' (see previous review) so I knew about Stumptown and the whole US pourover/cupping scene. I thought the cafe wasn't bad, but it took me a few attempts before they understood that I wanted a coffee in between the 30ml of an espresso and the 400ml of their Americano. What they came up with was okay, but far from my perfect brew. The flavour was interesting (the blend was Sumatran/Brazilian/West African, I believe) but it seemed a bit underextracted, as if they hadn't packed it tight enough - I'd seen other coffees go out that looked better. So it leaves me wondering about the consistency of their work.
