Reviews of Castroni Caffe
My daughter and I discovered this cafe on the second morning of our week long trip to Rome and went back every day. The cost of two cappuccino and two pastries was a little above the cost of one coffee in the UK; the cashier thought I was mad when I kept insisting I wanted two, as I thought I was being charged only for one! The service was welcoming, swift and professional during the busy commuter period and I'm looking forward to my next visit to Rome, insisting on staying in close proximity so I can start each day with a cup of the gorgeous coffee from here - oh and ice-cream from the tiny parlour, at the bottom of street, turning right, opposite the back wall of the Vatican; which we substituted for one of our meals each day!
If you go to the Vatican, you must look this place up. Legit espresso is served with class by baristas wearing ties. It\'s fun to browse the shelves of grappa, candy, and other Italian foods. The essence of a classic Italian espresso experience. The deli next door is THE spot to stock up on picnic supplies and take-out for the hotel room.
Atypical italian cafe and specialty goods store in one. Italians have their morning espresso and breakfast standing up so you'll be rubbing shoulders. But it is worth it. The coffee is bloody good. There is a dedicated barista who cleans and maintains the machine between each coffee and gets the draw exact. The espresso is true italian style, strong, thick and kicks the back of the throat nicely. Caffe Latte is expertly poured and the milk is exceptional. Great bustling atmosphere and the food and OJ's are also amazing. This is where the locals go.
