Reviews of Red Bean Coffee (Preston)
An inviting ambience and warm friendly atmosphere make this cafe roastery a welcome haven on a blustery and wet Melbourne morning. The coffee is full flavoured, strong and smooth and is roasted fresh in house. My first cappuccino was a little cool with barely any foam, the second was better. Despite the minor hiccups of temperature and foam the quality of the bean, roast and flavour would merit a return visit.
Beans are roasted onsite with several single origins for sale. Had a strong flat white which had a beautiful full flavour from the first sip with a lingering finish that I could still taste for a few minutes even once the coffee was gone. Temperature and texture were spot on.
Great atmosphere plenty of seating and an al fresco area. They seem to take their coffee seriously. Coffee is roasted on site. Have only tried takeaways never had time to sit and enjoy. Certainly worth a try. They seem to bake on site as well so that's a bonus. Staff are friendly and obliging.
Red Bean Cafe has, for me, the best coffee in Melbourne hands down & great food to boot. The staff at Red Bean is also super yummy & the staff who work here are great. The owners Laura & Lou are great people who know their stuff. Definitely worth a visit to Red Bean Cafe to enjoy sensational coffee & food!! Keep up the great work!!!
Have been back again and it was just as good. However, to explain the "hidden" tag, I drove straight past it and didn't realise. I'm sure it was bright red last time we were there, but this time it was all black outside, and the signage isn't obvious unless you know it's there. The building is tucked back slightly, so it's not very visible when driving past from the Bundoora direction, although it's a little more obvious when you're coming from the city end.
