Reviews of Aunty Peg's
This place is like a wonderland for coffee enthusiasts. The boys behind the bar are full of knowledge and love a chat all things coffee. A MUST experience. They can give you a tour of the place if you ask nicely. Amazing. Beware no milk in sight lol
Went to Aunty Peg's after hearing about it from a colleague of mine. As soon as you walk in you know that you are in for a different experience. There is no food here other than some sweets and pastries that are prepared in their commercial kitchen which is upstairs. We were greeted by Nolan who is the owner. Place is super cool with a number of brewing methods available to you. The first this that grabs your attention is the bar area and the fact that there is no big bulky coffee machine. Nolan has setup the place so that there is a strong focus on interacting with his customers. The stripped back under bench Synessos look really cool. I ended up trying their Ecuador Maputo La Nube and Brazil Bom Pastor COE #3. I had both as a filter and both were wonderful. The Ecuador had a lovely caramel sweetness and smelt amazing in the cup. The Brazil had an amazing aroma whilst it was being ground that struck me as I was sitting at the bar. It was not as pleasant to drink as the Ecuador when hot but developed a more pleasant taste as it cooled. It was a very complex coffee and one that I enjoyed. The flavour that stood out for me was again caramel. Both coffees were well balanced with no bitterness and a very pleasant mouth feel. Nolan should be very proud of what he has set up here. I highly recommend this place for any coffee lover, just don't expect to get a coffee with any milk.
