Discovering Espresso Cielo was like a lifeline in a sea of coffee mediocrity. The ambience, flavours, attitude and espresso are like a fast of Australia in LA. Quality Baristas that take the time to get the extraction right and finally some care given to the handling of the milk that is so often ruined in America. Along with Menotti's, The Refinery and Intelligentsia Coffee these are four quality cafes to chose from in LA and worth the effort to visit.
Started with a latte (not a Flat White in sight) and followed with a Piccolo. Latte was one of the better coffees I had in my 4 days in LA on this trip. Although the milk was a little under stretched and flabby, my coffee was served at a good temperature with good depth of flavour and some nice complexities. I'd only visited 3 other LA cafes on this trip, until now each served me coffee where all the flavour was upfront, lacking any real depth and flavour subtleties. Piccolo - just not in the style I prefer to drink a Piccolo. Seemed to be based on a standard full shot and was just way to strong. Impossible to detect any distinctive flavours A game of two half's.
