Walked in to a warm welcome, and bathroom facilities which can be hard to find. Aussie run establishment and Aussie barista, which is always a good sign, and beautiful coffee art on the best skim latte I’ve had in this part of the world. My daughter had a hit chocolate she also said was great, and not too sweet for a change.
Terrific find behind Selfridges and around the corner from my hotel (Hyatt Regency Churchill). The first time I visited I had the coffee eat-in along with brunch. The coffee was amazing, chocolate flavour and smooth. I also had the shakshuka eggs which were delicious. Service however was a bit sloppy. They were apologetic for the lapses and rectified these with a smile. Went back for a couple of take-aways which were also good though not as good as my first coffee.
Very noisy cafe downstairs with the usual age-of-customer characteristics that we have come to associate with good coffee in the UK. We were the oldest patrons by a margin of several decades - we’ll at least 2. Or to put it another way, we were knowing about and enjoying Coffee before any of the other people here - staff or customers - were introduced to breast milk. The important bit, though, is that the coffee was good here. And so, incidentally, was the food.
Had two espressos half hour apart. First one just ok second on excellent. The corn and broccoli fritter was excellent. Downstairs outsidish spot to sit was very pleasant oasis. Service was fine but staff seemed a bit distracted (aloof more than cool). Overall would happily go back for both food and coffee.
