Hidden and cozy coffee shop. VERY good service. The owner is a chatty coffee loving guy who is hospitable and warm. We’re from Canada so we felt very welcomed! Also the espresso is unreal! We highly recommend!

One of the best hidden coffee gems of the world in Christchurch! A charming little espresso bar run by a very talented and dedicated owner! Coffee was beautifully extracted with a nice, thick consistency. Although not situated close to the centre of Christchurch, I will definitely make Il Magro my ‘go to’ when in Christchurch. A must try!!

Wow! This hard to find little cafe is worth the search effort. Amazing shots served with great attitude. No pretense here, just espresso coffee served with a huge dose of care and attention to detail and a huge dose of customer service. Very fresh beans, good equipment, skilled baristas. Within a couple of visits they will remember your order and offer to make it the moment you walk through the door. You will be tempted to try their supply of baked goods. I discovered the lemon cakes on my last visit there. Oh my word they are good. On my visit to Christchurch I tried Dose, Addington Co-op, Industrie, Switch and a few others. Il Magro was by far the best. Pros - All the elements for great espresso that results in ... Great espresso! - They take credit cards - Staff that care about their customers and their product - Very accessible by bicycle. Just off the North Railway line cycle path Cons - Hard to find. No signage at the street - No indoor seating

Easily best coffee in New Zealand. I am from Melbourne where the coffee is consistently pretty good but this place beats it. Amazing service also.
