Great place, modern but charming fit out and the atmosphere is buzzing. The coffee is full on flavour with well weighted and easy to drink. It has caramel or chocolate not with a dusty finish which oddly was really enjoyable! It was super moorish, so I had 3... the food is modern and tasty offering complete dishes and well as toast and pastries... Perhaps a bit noisy but that is my only complaint. This is a great find and worth checking out. It wasn't easy to find parking close by, but worth the stroll to get there.
After an eleven month hiatus I returned to M&GG recently and was delighted with the coffee both times I visited. The first was shortly before closing and resulted in the coffee being served in a paper cup. The coffee was superb. My next visit was during normal trading hours and the piccolo was in a glass and while very good did not quite match the previous coffee. Great service too.
My partner and I visited this place after learning it was very close to where we stayed. The place was packed in a rather early winter morning, but the wait was not too long. While waiting, I could study they grow some herbs and lemons. I love those places that grow their own food. The place is not big but they use the space very efficiently and interior is interesting. Lots of timber and old apparatus which I really wanted to take home. The service was very prompt, a bit neutral but considering the fact that they had to handle so many clients, it is understandable. Coffee tasted really robust and a bit earthy as they use Sumatra. My partner did not like his FW much as he prefers more nutty and chocolate flavour, but I quite enjoyed my espresso. Food menu was interesting and my fruit toast was really tasty. My partner and I had really good morning and felt happy with what we were offered.
This is a long overdue review. I used to go to this cafe everyday when working in construction on the nishi job site. The food and coffee were both great, the staff were lovely and although we weren't their regular clientele they never spoke down to us or treated us like crap which is something that happens way too often at nice cafes when you wear hi-vis work. Strongly recommend these guys
