Reviews of Under the Clock
I get my coffee here every morning before work. Being across the road from a hospital they can get busy in peak times however they are always quick with food and coffee orders. The campos coffee is always beautiful and smooth however if you like hot coffee make sure you ask for extra hot! The girls are always friendly and happy to help!
Crazy busy at times, Under the Clock Tower is owned by Somerville House (girls private school) and I think the day to day running is outsourced. Perfect location for the business being right next door to 2 private schools and Qld's largest mega hospital. The fitout is great, the ambience follows suit. Campos beans, my flat white was made perfectly, however, my friend's hot chocolate was well below par and does not come with marshmallows... Food is ordinary, cold, expensive, and from a previous review, I can imagine what it would be like during the busy times.
I've not long been working at the Lady Cilento Hospital, but I've been frequenting Under the Clock on an almost daily basis. Initially it was due to its convenient location, however I preference it now over the other local cafes (which in general aren't too bad). Their coffee is great and the service is friendly enough. The atmosphere however is amazing - it has that dank old colonial presence, where you wish the walls could talk - although it would probably sound something like "well for past 100 year I've been a storeroom..." :) Beautiful regardless.
