Motto_coffee reviewed Empire Specialty Coffee
This small hole-in-the wall cafe is located in the industrial area in Moorooka. Not many people would expect a specialty cafe in such an area in Brisbane. I mostly have flat white at Empire because I often find Wolff Roaster's Big Dog blend tastes better with milk. I first thought it was slightly bitter, but the texture and temperature were right, so tried a few more. Their coffee has got better over a month or so. They occasionally have filter coffee. I had Kenya which tasted very complex with good acidity and brandy sweetness. It was really delicious. They also offer bottled cold brew from time to time. Service is good. Baristas are friendly and polite. They offer proper courtesy to customers. Their music selection is also quite good and people can expect that as it is part of recording studio. Unfortunately there are not outside tables and the space is fairly small. If you prefer a proper cafe setting and offerings, this is not ideal as they don't serve food other than sweet treats. If you, however, love some industrial feel and something different, you will like this place. I am happy to have a specialty coffee place near my place anyway and look forward to going back.
